CONSERVATIVE COUNCILLOR FIRST ELECTED IN 2008

in 2006 to start at Southampton University but chose to stay
here because Southampton is a fantastic place to live!"
Paul was elected to Southampton City Council in May 2008 at the age of 19, he took the Conservatives from third place and increased the Conservative vote by 16%; he overturned a Labour majority of 480 and won the seat with a majority of 52 votes.
Paul has served in a number of capacities on the City Council; he served as Chairman of the Planning and Rights of Way Committee from August 2008-June2009, after this he was promoted by the Leader of the Council to the Cabinet where he served as Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Learning from June 2009 until February 2011. This position put him in political control of the city’s services relating to schools, education and social services.
Paul currently serves on the Council’s licensing committee and also is involved in many of the community groups in Redbridge; he is a past member of Southampton’s fostering and adoption panels and is a past board member of Southampton Voluntary Services.
Outside of his council duties, Paul lives in the City Centre and supports Saints FC as his adopted football team. Paul works as a Parliamentary Adviser to an MP in Westminster.
