Southampton parents can rely on their local Southampton Conservatives to protect ALL of Southampton's SureStart centres.
Labour have made it clear that they will cut up to 1,500 council jobs if they gain control of Southampton City Council next May. This will put at risk vital local services such as SureStart and libraries.
We just can't let this happen!
Councillor Royston Smith, Conservative Leader of Southampton City Council, is keen to reassure all Southampton parents.
"I know that frontline services are vital to local residents like you, and that is why I am determined to protect them. Despite having to save £75m over four years, your Conservative Council are ensuring your libraries, Sure Starts, leisure centres and bin collections (to name but a few services) are safe.
The Labour Party in Southampton have announced their alternative, which is to cut the services you rely on and sack up to 1,500 people. Their colleagues in Manchester and Liverpool have made massive cuts to services like Sure Starts and libraries, and now they want to do the same here. Not on our watch!"
Elsewhere Labour have used Sure Start as a political football, cutting back the service to the detriment of the people, in an effort to lay the blame on the Conservative/Lib Dem coalition.
Southampton Conservatives are very clear that SureStarts WON'T BE CLOSED whilst we remain in control of the council.
Don't be fooled by Labour. We are clear in our message. A vote for a Conservative Councillor in May will help keep the Conservative led Council that will protect SureStart Centres.
