Southampton Conservatives

Since the local elections last month, we've been out across the city from Redbridge to Harefield keeping in touch with local people. Although Labour now control the council, we achieved some great things during our year in office; investing in our roads to repair more potholes, providing more parking for our estates and freezing council tax so people keep more of their money. These were all promises we made and promises we kept. We went further too, introducing 20mph limits in areas where local people wanted them, something Labour insisted for years could not be done. Next year, every council seat in Southampton will be up for election. This will be our chance to take back the council from Labour, build on the fantastic things we did over the last year and truly make Southampton a better place to live. Until then, we're looking forward to visiting more communities, knocking more doors and helping more people with the issues that matter to them. ... See MoreSee Less

The Labour Councillor tried to say that the money for these schemes was going to be funded solely by Council tennants rents and as such Labour did not feel it was right to use that money on such schemes in Mansbridge. When I then corrected the Labour Councillor that the money for the Mansbridge schemes were all budgeted for out the Council's general fund money and not Council tennants money, the only reply they gave was that this was the decision Labour has made...I am very sad that once again Labour has decided to forget about Mansbridge and decided not to provide already budgeted for and much needed extra parking spaces on the estate. Local Conservatives will always continue to lobby for the best interests of both Swaythling and Mansbridge."- Councillor Spiros Vassiliou, Conservative Councillor for Swaythling ... See MoreSee Less
